A revolutionary paper mulch made in New England. Decomposes in the soil, avoiding the disposal and waste problem of plastic. Used just like poly mulch, with equal weed control but about 2-3°F less soil warming. Starts decomposing in avg. 6-10 weeks. paper mulch. It does not have to be removed from the field or garden at the end of the season, just till or disk it in at the end of the season. It is secured with a layer of soil or rocks. However the paper has a tendency to prematurely degrade along the edges where it is secured with a layer of soil. Due to expansion when wet and shrinkage when dry the paper tends to tear along the edges at the soil line. Then the paper is subject to lifting by wind. Therefore an additional layer of soil should be added periodically to the edges to secure the paper. Weighting with stones or bricks reduces this problem. Also planters paper makes a good weed barrier for you crops, garden or in your landscaping under mulch. Our Eco friendly paper works as a great weed barrier and for moisture retention in your garden or under your mulch in your landscaping.
